Cockatiels are a wonderful species of pet bird. One could not possibly wish for a more affectionate pet than a cockatiel. But regardless of their character, they need to be cared for properly otherwise they will suffer and eventually get sick out of boredom.

The most important thing you could possibly know about a cockatiel is their need for attention and interaction with humans or other pet birds. Unless you are prepared to play with your tiel every day, you will do your bird a disfavor. When cockatiels are upset they have the ability to start screaming or whistling in a very annoying tone. The funny thing is that non bird owners seem to think that they whistle to them.

In reality, they are upset and they state it. Owners know too well that the sounds of their cockatiel has a special meaning, as if they were speaking.
